A Stunning Piece of History A true investment quality Corvair. Priced below market this car will not last long.
1965 was the debut of the Corvair's second generation. Known for it's lack of a "B" pillar and a new fully independent suspension replacing the original outdated swing axle rear suspension set up. With these refinements, the car had become the fun, usable everyday car for which it was originally designed.
This vehicle includes a normally aspirated 140 hp flat 6 cylinder designed for the new Corsa. The engine is unusual in offering four single-throat carburetors, to which were added larger valves and a dual exhaust system. Another desirable option included is the Powerglide transmission. All the second generation engines have some of the heavy-duty internal parts from the Turbocharged engine for better durability.
New refinements appeared on the 1965 redesign. A much better heater system, larger brakes borrowed from the Chevelle, a stronger differential ring gear, a Delcotron alternator replacing the generator, and significant chassis refinements. AM/FM stereo radio, in-dash All Weather Air Conditioning, telescopically adjustable steering column are all featured. Our car is a true time capsule vehicle. With just over 14,000 miles the car was owned by the same family for most of it's life. The original owner purchased the car and stored it lovingly, taking the car out for leisurely weekend cruises and shopping trips.
The car was then handed down to another family member who left the car in long term storage until its present owner acquired the vehicle. The car was tastefully updated and does benefit from a professional re-spray in the original color. The interior is original to the car. The drivetrain is also original to the car and performs flawlessly.
